The Granny Project
First Year are currently studying Anne Fine's 'The Granny Project'. Pupils are reading they play in class and discussing the themes which arise.
Pupils have been asked to consider the stereotypical 'O.A.P.' and we have looked at examples of elderly people who contradict this idea. Pupils have written diary entries for 'A day in the life of an O.A.P.' and have also written their own 'missing scenes' from the play. These scenes were then performed by the individuals who scripted them in front of their peers.
The next piece of work which we shall be focusing on is 'A Granny Project of Our Own'. The pupils will be required to interview an elderly relative or family friend and will build a project around this individual. A sheet will be provided to explain the questions which should be asked and to clarify the focus of the project. This sheet will be available for download from the resources section of this page.
