Private Peaceful
S2 are currently studying Michael Morpurgo's award winning 'Private Peaceful'. This novel focuses on the story of two brothers and their experiences as they grow up. Pupils have been reading the text in class and completing a 'Twitter' profile for Thomas Peaceful. This task requires pupils to 'tweet' their thoughts and feelings at the end of every chapter from the perspective of Thomas. Pupils only have 140 characters to compose their tweet and so must be concise with their responses. This task will enable the pupils to look back over their 'Twitter Account' and see a brief summary of the events of the novel and the main character's feelings towards them.
Pupils are also considering the effects that the key events of the novel have on the reader. Do we feel optimistic about what is going to happen next or pessimistic? These thoughts are being noted and will be used as the basis for a Critical Essay to be written at the end of the unit.
